1. Missed Recognitions: We forgot to meniton a few records when they happened. Congrads to Stephanie Ferrell who broke
her own 15/18 and Open 200 Breast Record. Congrads to Jovany Avendano who broke Matt Navata's 15/18 100 Back Record and Congrads
to Andrew Skibniewski who broke the 2005 8/U 100 Back Record.
2. The devopmental groups are over for the Fall/Winter - We will start up again in April. Dates and times to be announced
mid march.
3. Race Development Groups last practice will be 2/17 when you will rejoin your primary groups practice schedule.
4. Great job this weekend at 8/U Champs - Special thanks to all the older kids and siblings who helped the 8/U's in the
meet. Congrads to Mex Geller, Andrew Skibniewski, Jamie Norris, Christian Twyman and Trevor Duebner who all placed TOP 16
in an event.
5. For the rest of the season Junior group will have practices on Wednesdays from 530-645 unless otherwise noted.
6. A current best times list by name, by event, Charlotte, Y states and Y nationals qualifer lists have been
posted to the meet results page for all athletes. Please check to ensure accuracy.

1. The 8/under State Championship meet is now one week away; thank you for all your entries.
Since the availability of volunteers is much greater in the morning, we will be running the larger girls sessions first and
the boys sessions in the afternoon. This is a swapping of the girls and boys sessions from the original schedule. Warm-up
and session starting times will remain the same for the morning, and the afternoon sessions are now starting 45 minutes later.
Below is the updated schedule. We will post the update on the website www.shyswimteam.org as well. Please inform your swimmers
and parents of this change.

2. Meet Results from all tri meets have been posted.
News 1/25
1. Y Silver, NJS Swimskin Invite (for 13/O new meet) and NJS Senior Champs meet info has been posted. We have added
the new meet because the coaching staff decided it was a better fit for out 13/O swimmers then the Silver meet in Gloucester
this year.
2. CHARLOTTE MEET SIGN UP
Charlotte sign ups were last Wednesday and Thursday. For any team member who qualified but did not sign up --- your
forms (Entries and Meal/Shirt) and your checks must be placed in the BRONSON file folder no later
than TUESDAY January 26. All paperwork will be processed by that date. (Suit order forms have a February deadline
and can be placed in the O'Halloran folder until the deadline). Jacket deadline has expired.
3. Jon will be out of town from Thursday the 28th and return on Wednesday the 3rd - please e-mail Paulo with any questions,
concerns or meet entries.
4. There are no Saturday practices this week 1/30.
5. Meets this weekend are as follows - order of events are below. Becuase of the nature of these qualifiers - all athletes
will need to provide at least one volunteer to time, or help run the meets.

1. YMCA 8/U meet info has been added to the meet grid. All 8/U athletes swimming in Intro and Novice will automatically
be entered into this meet unless you tell us you can not go by 1/25. All Micro, Mini, Little Dolphins or Stroke of Genius
8/U's have to sign up for the meet by 1/25 if you plan on going.

2. TEAM CLOTHING PICK UP
For those families who did not pick up their clothing orders, clothing will be distributed again on Wed Jan 20
and Thurs Jan 21 on the pool balcony from 6:30 - 8:30 pm. No other pick up dates will be scheduled until the banquet
in May.
3. CHARLOTTE SIGN UP MEETING
The meetings to sign up for the Charlotte meet (Sunkissed Invitational) are January 20 (Wednesday) or January
21 (Thursday) from 6:30- 8:30 pm on the observation deck.
All required forms are posted with the meet information (Forms include event sign up, meal and shirt info,
suit info, jacket info) Please be prepared to pay for meet fees as well (outstanding balance as well as amounts to cover the
upcoming championship meets and Charlotte meet).
We will have an express sign up for those people who have completed all forms and a general sign up for those
who need help, have questions etc.
ALL SWIMMERS WHO QUALIFY AND WILL BE ATTENDING THE MEET MUST BE SIGNED UP AT THIS TIME (Note: Please check the
handbook for conditions and requirements to attend the meet including the need to attend your highest Y meet)

1. There has been an extension on the photo fundraiser until the 25th for the parents to place their orders if you
had pictures taken and would like to put in an order.
2. Regarding the regional tri meets coming up - athletes have to pick their events and e-mail Jon or Paulo with their
choices. Events for the meets are linked below today's news. WE WILL NOT ENTER ATHLETES UNLESS THEY TELL US WHAT THEY WANT
TO SWIM BY THE THURSDAY BEFORE THE MEET. REMINDER of dates, times and Locations - Age group Tri Meets have been set.
We will post events within the week. Athletes attending MUST pick their events for these meets based on what they need to
qualify for.

1. Due to some mechanical problems we have to cancel all practices today. Both pools are closed. We should be fine for
tomorrow for 9 AM practice for Juniors and Seniors and the girls A meet.

3. Reminder 12/15 payment is past due and 1/15 payment is just around the corner.
4. Reminder: The Dolphin-a-Thon is done and the due date to hand
in your donations is January 31, 2010. Please make out your checks to Montclair YMCA (no

This is the swim team’s biggest fundraiser and we need everyone’s support and participation. A donation of $100 per family entitles all the siblings to the pizza party (details

the building is closed.
2. The coaching staff would like to wish everyone a happy and healthy New Year and hope your Holiday season so far has
and will continue to be outstanding. We all consider the Dolphins a part of our extended family and we would like to thank
all the swimmers, parents, volunteers and fans for making 2009 a very special year to be part of the Dolphin Clan.
We would also like to thank everyone for recognizing the amount of effort we put in by baking us cookies, sending cards,
bringing in gifts and being part of the group gift. We appreciate it more then anyone could possibly imagine. Your generosity
was overwhelming and words can not thank you all enough. We as a staff feel very blessed to be
working with such outstanding athletes and families.

1. There are no practces for team saturday and sunday - there will be Micro, Mini, Little Dolphins and Stroke of Genius
on Sunday.
2. Regarding the weather this weekend.... Normally the meets will run - depnding on how bad it gets out. That
being said don't drive an hour unless you know the status of warm-ups and/or the meet. We will do my best to post to the website
what's happening - but as all decisions are out of our hands - you will more then likely be better served checking the OCY
website or calling the Ocean County Y. Also if you genuinely feel concern for your saftey - the meet has to come second. Just
let us know via TEXT or Phone call - not through e-mail as we do not have e-mail on the pool deck.

1. SWIM TEAM CLOTHING ORDER
The swim team clothing order will be available for pick up on Monday December 21st or Tuesday December 22nd from 6:30
pm until 7:30 pm on the observation deck of the pool. If you do not pick up your items at that time, there will limited alternative
options AFTER the new year.
2. On December 2nd and 3rd,
most of the kids came out and participated in the Dolphin-A-Thon, our swim team’s biggest fundraiser! For those kids
who were not able to participate, they can still do so by swimming laps at their regular practice and having the coach sign
off on the certification sheet provided to them. The next step is to collect the pledges and flat donations from their sponsors
and hand them in. Checks should be made out to Montclair YMCA. These checks can either be handed in at the Montclair YMCA
front desk marked to Jon’s attention or can be mailed to Iona Santa Cruz, 23 Glenview Drive, West Orange, NJ 07052.
No cash please; only checks.
