News 11/11
1. Family Files on the pool balcony are now completed. We don't use them much, but we do use them. Please check to see

2. If you have some hard copies of photos from last swim season or even this swim season, please get some copies to the
Bursae family file. Joanne has been doing a great job wity team collages the past few years and is willing to do another one,
but needs photos to do so.

1. 1000 Challenge Heat Sheet with Start times is linked below todays news.
All athletes in Heat 1 and 2, must be at the Y ready to swim at 6:45 - Athletes in Heat 2 will count for heat 1.
All other athletes MUST get to the Y ready to warm up 40 minutes before their heat start time. All athletes MUST be prepared
to count for at least one other athlete
There are 3 open lanes - they will be awarded to interested athletes who show up by 630 PM and find Jon.

1. CLOTHING ORDER DEADLINE
This is a reminder that the deadline for the clothing order is due MONDAY NOVEMBER 10th. All forms and
payment shall be placed in the BRONSON family folder (NO CASH). Most clothing items are priced reasonably and remained
at last years prices! And orders are expected to be returned prior to the Christmas holiday. Dont miss this opportunity
to purchase team apparel.

News 11/5
1. There will be no Saturday afternoon practices this weekend because we have a home meet. We will have Saturday am practice
for pre-seniors and seniors. We will have no Sunday 7 PM practice because we are running the 1000 challenge.
2. This Sunday 11/9 from 7 PM to 8:30, we will be hosting the 1000 Challenge. If you are interested in racing the
1000, e-mail Jon by Friday at 6 PM. On Saturday we will post the heats and approximate start times. We will be able to warm
up in the small pool during the heats so athletes will not need to stay the whole time - but all athletes will need to
count for another. This is open to all athletes aged 13 and Older and will be seeded fast to slow. We will have a limited
number of heats due to time constraints and it will be seeded fast to slow, so we are anticipating only being able to allow
the top 30 to swim.
3. More changes to the Y dual meet schedule have been posted.
4. REMINDER - We have a girls A team and a boys B team meet this weekend. It is expected that you go to your dual meets
unless you let us know by the wedensday before the meet that you can not go.

1. The boys B team dual meet this Saturday against West Morris is at the County College of Morris pool. Warm Up is 12:30
and 1:00PM start - Directions: Get off rt 10 west at Ironia, dover chester rd.--make a left at exit back across rt 10
and proceed about 1/8 mile and left into college. Continue to stop sign. Pool is in the building on right (Health Education
).
2. Dual meet schedule has been updated again.
3. Y States and Y Silvers cuts page has been fixed.

1. TEAM SUITS ARE IN
Suits will be available for pick up on the pool balcony Wednesday
October 29th 7:00-7:30 PM
Thursday October 30th 6:30-7:30 PM
If you pre-ordered a suit please pick it up during these times.
2. Because of Halloween/Great Turkey - There will only be 1 practice on Friday - from 3:45-5:00 in the large pool for
anyone looking to practice. There will be no practices this weekend - except Little Dolphins and Stroke of Genius.

4. Great Turkey Meet Timeline and Timing Assignments have been posted. WE WILL NEED TIMERS FOR EVERY SESSION OF THIS

1. Entries for Great Turkey and Holiday Classic has been posted to the meet pages. NOTE - For Great Turkey - we have
many of the athletes in more challenging events and not their primary events or repetitive dual meet events. Also we felt
that some athletes were not ready for this meet and were not entered. Please check the entry list to make sure you were entered.

processed - Flushing is autoenter 10/23 - Entries for Classic will be posted when they are accepted.

3. Reminder - when we have home meets - we do not have practices. This weekend we will only have the presenior/senior
practice on Saturday and on Sunday only little dolphins and stroke of genius - there are no other practices this weekend.

this out and DRESS ACCORDINGLY! Also both meets will be getting out fairly early so be prepared to do a warm down after
your session. All high school aged athletes should be prepared to stay until approximately 8:00 on Sunday
3. Ellen Mace from Be Smartt Meet Management will be at the 10/U session
of the red black on Saturday and will be teaching anyone who is interested in learning how to use the timing system in a practical
setting. Please come and learn. If you can use a stopwatch you can figure this out.

1. Red black is this weekend - all athletes except little dolphins and stroke of genius will be entered unless you are
not up to date with your membership, meet fee account or program fees. Payment 2 is due tomorrow.
2. 2008-2009 team handbook is linked above todays news and on the forms and flyers page. It has been drastically shortened
from last year but is also more specific. Please read this as soon as you can.

fairly light on officials right now - and are getting close to panic mode. Please consider becoming an official for the Montclair
Y.
2. Red Black Meet is the weekend of 10/18 - please see the meets and events page for more info. A few notes - if your
Y membership is not up to date or your second swim team program payment has not been made you will not be allowed to participate

1. At about 12:30 On Sunday on the large pool deck Ellen Mace from Be Smart will be running a training for anyone interested
in learning how to run the Colorado Timing Console. We are also getting some service done so this is an approximate time.
2. Jon is transitioning some technology over the next few days inlcuding new computer. E-Mail and web updates
will be suspended more then likely until Tuesday.

1. Jon will be in Atlanta at the Aquatics Sports Convention from Wednesday through Sunday this week. Contact BG with
any questions.
2. Some practice times will change imediately for the Senior and Pre-Senior groups.
Fridays - Seniors will swim 5:30-7:30
Saturdays - Seniors will swim 9-11:15
Preseniors will swim 9-10:30
3. Regarding Sunday night practices:
The only parts of the building that will be open are the Lower Lobby, the Large Pool, the Youth Locker Rooms and the
Large Pool Balcony. The Building is officially closed and will be cleaned so we can not be anywhere but these spaces.
Everyone must enter and exit the building through the lower entrance by the parking deck and all athletes MUST swipe
in with their cards.
All athletes must be changed and picked up by 850 - the building will close at 9 pm sharp.

1. THE MONTCLAIR
DOLPHINS SWIM TEAM NEEDS OFFICIALS !!
Please
consider becoming a YMCA swimming official for the Montclair Dolphins swim team for the upcoming dual meet season.
We
will mentor you with an experienced official at dual meets until you feel comfortable officiating on your own.
If
you would consider becoming an official, please go to the MYM website Officials page and check out the overview of the role of a swimming official and the list of upcoming Level I clinics from which you can
choose.
The
clinic takes about 4 hours. You then take an open book, online test. Once you have passed the test, the team will reimburse you the clinic fee.
If
you have any questions, please contact Eileen Huelbig, MYM Officials Coordinator at ewhuelbig@netscape.net
2. New this year - you can renew memberships and make all but the first payment on the YMCA's website. Hit the Y on this
website's left menu bar to get to the Y's website.
3. 1st payments are due on 9/15 or before your first practice - a registration desk will be set up near
the downstairs desk for swim team only to register on 9/15 and 9/16 during practice times.
4. All swim team athletes are required to scan in - if you are just joining the Y - make sure you get a card - if you
are returning and have lost your card, if you get a new one before 9/15 your replacement fee will be waived.
5. For Sunday night practices moving forward - we can only enter/exit the Y through the lower entrance into the
parking deck - the main doors upstiars will be locked.
6. There are several officials certification courses coming up. Flyers are linked below todays news and at the bottom

3. Practice Schedule for the next two weeks for Pre-Seniors and Seniors is as follows. All athletes who were in these
groups can attend even if they need to re-tryout.
Thursday 9/4, Tuesday 9/9, Thursday 9/11, Friday 9/12 from 5:30-7:00 in the small pool.
Regular Practice Schedule will be posted next week with start dates for all other groups.
4. We would ask that all athletes over the age of 13 volunteer at at least 1 tryout to help the new kids and make them

1. Congrads to our LC 2008 National Team (phot above) - they did a great job down at UMD - Special Kudos to
Matt Navata - who won the 400 IM and 200 Fly.

- Please check that all your best times are correct.
3. With try-outs just around the corner - please be aware that all 12/U athletes are required to try out every year and
a list of placements will be posted for 13/O's who do not need to tryout by 8/15
