News 8/18
1. We look forward to seeing everyone at tryouts. Please arrive early so we can make sure we get started on time. One
important note. New rules to enhance pool cleanliness have been adpoted here at the YMCA and all swimmers in our pools should
be wearing bathing caps at all times. Caps are available for purchase at the front desk at the Y. They have latex, silicon
and cloth available.
2. All 13/O athletes returning to the team DO NOT need to try out but we would like you to come volunteer at at least
1, but preferably two of the tryout sessions. Please e-mail Jon which days you can come.
3. A note about the fall/winter schedule and very exciting news. After literally years of trying to figure
out how to do this and satisfy all groups needs, we have re-done much of the pool schedule for many reasons but from our perspective
to move the youngest kids on the team into the warmer pool most of the time and some of the more advanced athletes
into the colder pool. This has been a jigsaw puzzle and it is not finalized as of yet, but most of the teams groupings will
be new and different with some recycled names (we will be taking group name suggestions) The coaching staff is very excited
about this because it will create opportunities to do more developing the team for the present and the future.
Monday through Thursday, most athletes practices will begin no earlier then 5:30 and will end by 7:30 however some of
the high school athletes practices will end at 9:15. The exception is some of the more developed 11-14 year olds (previously
the two fastest lanes in the Junior group) who's practice times will begin at 4:00 in the large pool.
Fridays will be similar to what it has been and weekends we will have the ability to offer more practice times which
will be able to run even on Saturdays when we have dual meets.
We will do our best to get a more detailed schedule out in the next week or so, but as always until we finish tryouts
groups will be up in the air so athletes will not know where they fit in until then. We just wanted to give everyone's personal schedule a
heads up.
