1. Tryouts begin on Tuesday. All 12/U athletes are asked to tryout and all returning
13/0 athletes are asked to help a session. We look forward to seeing everyon next week.
2. Tryout page has been updated to include the following message. This is a good
time to talk to our officials chairperson.
ATTENTION ALL TRYOUT PARENTS!
Have you heard about our plea for officials but are still not quite
sure what is required? If so, please join Alison Ferrell (our officials coordinator) at the left far end of the observation
deck while your child is swimming at MYM Tryouts. She will review the various official jobs, what we look for when we are
observing the swimmers (and we can actually really watch swimmers in action), and answer any questions about how to become
an official.
Please consider helping the team out in this way! Without officials, meets
cannot happen.
Tryout News 8/2
We look forward to seeing everyone at tryouts. Please arrive early and meet on the large pool balcony ready to swim,
but with shirts and shoes on. Please be aware that all athletes must wear bathing caps. Check back a week before coming to
tryouts in case any changes were made. We have linked some documents to this web-page. Please fill out all papers before coming
in to save time.

LATE COMERS! Each swimmer will be allowed to attend one tryout session. YMCA membership is not required for tryouts but is
required to be on the team. |

What to expect at try-outs:
Arrive early and register on the
pool balcony, ready to swim.
There will be a 10-15 minute warm
up period that the coaches will conduct
Swimmers will be asked to participate
in some time trials as per the following grid - we will attempt to get in all four strokes if time permits.

Notification of placement will
be made by Tuesday 9/13/11. We will post this information on the tryout page of the website.
We will do our best to
place each willing participant into one of the many aquatic programs at the Montclair YMCA where we try to provide an appropriate experience
for swimmers at every level.
Once placed, in order
to guarantee your spot you must register with Faith Mazur, by 9/20/11.
Congratulations on a great tryout. We were able
to place every athlete we felt was ready for the team on the team this year. Please keep an eye on the website for the next
few weeks at least two times a week for pertinent information as it becomes available. We look forward to seeing you soon.
Lessons: We recommend that the following athletes
